Entersekt | Resources | Glossary | Time-based one-time passwords (TOTP)
Time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) are temporary numeric codes generated by an app or device, usually valid for 30–60 seconds. They are used as a second authentication factor in multi-factor authentication (MFA), reducing the risk of account compromise compared to static passwords.
