Improving wellness in the workplace
“Wellness is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” – The World Health Organization.

It could be easy enough to talk about wellness at work, or work-life balance, or to pull a few remote-work coping skills out of the hat. But sometimes it proves more meaningful to just take a breath (literally – take a breath and read on) and ponder what you really need to change to improve your own wellness, both at work and in life.

A good start might be to consider the dimensions of wellness: such as social, spiritual, physical, and intellectual wellbeing. It is important to acknowledge each dimension and consider how to actively improve these. Often, it requires only small changes in our routines, or our outlook on life (e.g. by practicing gratitude), or forming new habits such as daily meditation, or practicing mindfulness. There are also several free meditation and wellness apps available out there, so take the first step by downloading an app that resonates with you and trying it out.

As with most new endeavors or personal goals, being ruthlessly selective will prove more powerful than attempting to address all the dimensions of wellbeing from the get-go. So, take the time it deserves by assessing honestly how you are doing with wellness. We know that the support of family, friends and colleagues will always bolster any goals we set for ourselves, so it’s vital that you share your wellness goals with a few people you trust. Even having a sounding board in a friend or partner can be a great booster!

At Entersekt, the overall wellbeing of our employees is of the utmost importance to us. That’s why we've partnered with the Discovery Healthy Company program to ensure our employees have the tools and resources they need to better manage their physical and mental health and wellbeing.
