Technical Project Manager: Engineering Services

The technical project manager plans, manages, and controls the delivery of contracted services work for Entersekt’s customers. They do this by managing expectations, resolving roadblocks, and understanding what it takes technically to get the job done. This is a project manager that works closely with our technical solutions architects and has a good working understanding of the Entersekt product, the integration patterns for deploying the product, and the development methodologies used to deliver a solution.

The ideal candidate

You are an intermediate project professional with experience in the successful delivery of both internal and customer facing software projects. We are looking for someone with a good understanding of how software products are installed, integrated, and configured. Our ideal candidate should be able to contribute towards the technical success of a project by being involved in troubleshooting, reporting, and managing client relationships during a project.

The role

This role involves planning and managing projects that use early or “limited availability” versions of the Entersekt product suite while providing structure, direction, and reporting oversight to the team.

The technical project manager is an important role on the Engineering Services team based in our Stellenbosch head office, where we constitute a center of excellence supporting the delivery of our solutions globally. Key to our success is ensuring that early lessons and proven approaches are factored into our method and shared with our global delivery teams.


  • Plan, manage, and control project implementation as defined in traditional project management methodologies
  • Contribute to the customer’s overall solution delivery project and design through review and consultation
  • Participate in customer project progress meetings to provide risk mitigation support and best practice guidance
  • Contribute to solution designs and specifications detailing product configuration, integration points, custom interfaces, and technical risks and complexities
  • Manage and report project costs
  • Provide project status reporting internally and to customer project structures, including project steering committees
  • Compile, adapt, and communicate detailed project plans
  • Manage customer project delivery expectations
  • Compile and manage any hardware equipment budgets necessary for project success
  • Manage project contracts
  • Provide project scope, risk, schedule, quality, and cost management

Skills & Experience

Successful candidates will typically possess the following qualifications:

  • A relevant degree in engineering, computer science, or an equivalent qualification
  • Two to four years of software project management experience
  • Minimum two years’ delivery experience in a customer facing role
  • A project management qualification like PMBOK or PRINCE2 (desirable)
  • Software development experience (desirable)
  • Experience with e-commerce, payments processing, and/or financial systems (preferable)
  • Exposure to agile software development approaches
  • Practical experience with project management techniques, methodologies, and best practices; experience with cryptography and PKI experience will also represent an advantage
  • Working knowledge of project and development tools (Confluence Wiki, JIRA, and Rally, for example) is highly preferred
